I’ve always wanted to connect with other people. This blog is a way to do that. Writing can help bridge that communication gap when words cannot. What I want to express is a Christian’s unvarying faith and what that might look like.
This doesn’t mean a Christian’s faith is perfect or never falters. My faith is tested every day. Sometimes I’ll scream “hallelujah” at the end of my pastor’s sermon. Other times, I’m lying flat on my couch, downcast and asking, “What’s the point of it all?” I’m talking about a faith that perseveres and withstands. A faith that is strengthened by the passion and love of other Christians. A faith that relies on God for support even in Job-like circumstances.
Being a Christian isn’t something I do only on Sundays. It’s a full-time commitment, ingrained in everything I do. Colossians 3:17 says: “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
That is my goal here. I’m not a courageous apostle nor am I an eccentric prophet. I’m just a regular guy trying to walk in step with Jesus.
The process isn’t always going to look pretty. But sanctification is not an easy process for a sinner.
I want my family, friends, and anyone else interested to read what I write. I’m a reserved person, so speaking to people doesn’t always come naturally to me. People have told me I’m quiet and not particularly expressive. So, I’m hoping this blog helps others get to know me a little better and understand that I’m not some angry former Marine who plays with gunpowder. I’m just a dude trying to fit in a white robe that’s two sizes too small.
Why I’m Writing
I’ll be writing about the Christian life as I’m walking it. I’m not a pastor or a preacher. I would love to teach the Bible, preach, and evangelize someday.
But for now, I want to express what I’m learning and thinking and open the door for discussion. I don’t know where God is leading me, but I trust that His plans for my life are good. In the meantime, I’m taking it one step at a time. I will let God lead me where He wants me to go.
I want us to think carefully and critically about faith and about what it means to have unvarying faith. I’m open to discussion and criticism, because I’m not just writing to you. I’m writing to myself as well.
